On Sunday 30th October (yep, sorry for the mega-tardy update), Fierce Valley Roller Girls played against Perth’s Fair City Rollers in our first ever bout: Candy Jam.

The Halloween-inspired home game, was the first ‘public’ outing for FVRG’s Parma Violents. Admittedly, it wasn’t strictly public as it was a closed bout for friends and family only, but there were a hell of a lot more people watching than we have in training sessions! A blow-by-blow account of the action was captured by Scottish Roller Derby.

Although we were all hoping for a win in our first bout, FCR’s Fear Maidens kept their lead throughout. Here’s a wee pic of our team that played in Candy Jam – Our very own Chaos Faerie (of Zenspirations Photography & Design) designed the cracking programme for the day:

There was a huge amount of support from the Scottish Roller Derby community on the lead-up to our first bout, and on the day. There were NSO’s from Dundee Roller Girls, Auld Reekie Roller Girls, and they were joined by some of our own skaters. The Fear Maidens were also extremely supportive and even gave us a wee birthday goody bag!

Despite not winning, I think I speak for all of us Fiercey’s when I say that we learnt a lot about ourselves and also from Perth’s fantastic skaters in Candy Jam. I had such a great day and met a lot of new skaters. Can’t wait for our next bout against Dundee Roller Girls in February!
